Quilts for Charity

It is lovely to be able to support various charities with quilt making. This heart block pattern was given to members of one of the groups that I belong to for the purpose of using it for making quilts for charity. The blocks finish at a good size and are easy to stitch. They are also jelly roll friendly which is great for using up left over strips.

I had a search through my red fabrics and found several scraps which I have paired with a linen effect cream fabric background. I made six blocks which I have stitched together into a quilt, adding some sashing and a border.

The quilt was finished with some simple cross hatch quilting and binding. I kept the off cuts from the corners of the hearts and have stitched them together to make a little incubator the quilt. The larger quilt has gone off to the Woman’s Refuge and the little one to the hospital to the Premature Baby Unit. I hope that they will provide comfort in times of need.
