Vinyl Vibes Quilt
Put another record on with this retro musical themed quilt. The quilt showcases record cover blocks with half LPs popping out, appliqued records and lyrics, musical notation and piano keys. The quilt can be personalised with your own lyrics and motifs if desired.
The techniques of machine piecing and machine applique are covered in the workshops. It is fat quarter friendly. Machine piecing. Two days.
Secret Curves Quilt
Stitch a quilt where you create the illusion of curved piecing when in fact there is not a curved seam to be stitched. The quilt is machine pieced with a small amount of foundation paper piecing and consists of two blocks which when combined create an optical illusion. It is fat quarter friendly. Machine piecing. One day.
Ginger Spice
A lovely lap quilt consisting of a centre panel containing four baskets of blooms. This panel is bordered by rows of stripped fabric, alternating with rows of vines containing flowers and hearts. Machine appliqué and piecing. Two days.
Foundation Piecing
Students will be taught the method for foundation piecing and will foundation piece a Japanese kimono figure. Hand sewing. One half day or evening.
Craft Bag
This craft bag is perfect for storing sewing, knitting or craft supplies. The handy pockets on the outside are useful for threads and small notions while the roomy inside will take larger tools. The bag is softly padded with wadding and closes with a drawstring top. Machine sewing. One day.
Pleated Log Cabin
Something a little different from the normal log cabin quilt. Each of the log cabin strips is pleated which results in a textured effect and a very warm quilt with little or minimal quilting required. This project is made entirely from 2 ½” strips of fabric so if you have purchased one of those jelly rolls of fabric recently this is a good project to use it on. One day.
Modern Scrappy Double Wedding Ring Quilt
This quilt is a modern interpretation of the traditional double wedding ring quilt. It is machine pieced and can be made as small or as large as you wish.
I have used fabric scraps but it would work very nicely in a colour themed collection of prints. Machine sewing. One day.
Fabric Collage
Create a fabric collage picture that looks as if it is a painting. Small pieces of randomly cut fabric are bonded to a background panel and then machine quilted. We will work on a small wall hanging sized collage from a source of inspiration. One day.
Scrap Quilt
A bright and cheery quilt made from random fabric scraps of many colours and patterns. This quilt is a good opportunity to use up some of those fabric scraps that you have been saving for a rainy day and the quilt can be finished to any size. For those who wish to participate we will begin the day with a small fabric swop. One day.
O Christmas Tree
I have had great fun making this little quilt/wall hanging. It contains nine appliquéd Christmas trees and is embellished with all sorts of buttons etc. This project can be adapted to suit and can be finished to any size. Machine or hand appliqué.
Modern Christmas Wall Hanging
Stitch a modern Christmas Tree wall hanging. The wall hanging features trees in different sizes, stags and baubles appliqued on to a pieced background. The techniques of raw edge applique and quilt as you go are used in this project. The project could also be used as a table runner.
I have used a subtle grey/sage colourway but it would work in any Christmas fabrics. Machine sewing. One day.
Ready Steady Christmas
Christmas will soon be upon us and wouldn’t it be nice to have some hand made decorations, wall hangings etc, ready to put out in December? I will have 6 projects for you to chose from and you can make whichever you fancy. Projects include wall hangings, cushions, decorations etc. Students will receive the patterns and instructions for all projects although you will only have time to make 2 –3 projects at the most on the day. One day.
Scandi Inspired Christmas Love Bird Tree
Stitch a Scandi inspired Christmas Love Bird Tree wall hanging. This is a classic design inspired by Scandinavian embroidery. The project could also be used as a table runner. The wall hanging is stitched using machine applique. I have used a red/green colourway but it would work in any Christmas fabrics or alternatively in non Christmas fabrics. Machine applique. One day.
Italian Corded Quilting
Italian Corded Quilting involves inserting yarn or cord into stitched parallel channels. A raised design occurs. One half day or evening.
Home is Where the Heart Is
This project can be finished as a cushion or small wall hanging and features blanket stitch appliqué, some stitchery and a little piecing. Hand and machine stitching. One day.
In the Frame Quilt
This is a great quilt to showcase those special fabrics as they appear to be framed by a contrasting plain fabric frame. The project is good for using up squares from a layer cake or fabric scraps from your stash and grows quite quickly. Machine stitching. One day.
Butterflies in the Stars
This quilt contains star blocks with appliquéd centres. I have stitched butterflies in my centres but I have a selection of motifs for you to choose from if you fancy something else. This quilt contains both machine piecing and appliqué. One day.
Three Pocket Phone bag
This three pocket phone bag is perfect for when you are out and about. The pockets are roomy enough for a phone, some keys and cards. The added strap can be worn cross body so is great from a security point of view or for dog walking. I have made the bag in cotton fabrics and also with a linen outer and cotton lining and it works well with both fabric types. You will be able to make two or more bags during the day. Machine sewing. One day.
Stars in the Cabin
Log cabin blocks are combined with stars to create a very effective quilt. The blocks can then be arranged in a number of different ways to create secondary patterns. I have made my quilt in scraps but it would work very well in fabrics of a single colour way. Machine piecing. One day.
Folk Art Felt Pin Cushions
These little pin cushions are made from wool felt and stitched by hand. I have a number of alternatives for you to try, including some penny rug designs, hearts and flowers. Hand stitching. Evening or half day.
Interconnecting Lines Quilt
This quilt is machine pieced and is full of interconnecting lines which move over and under each other. I have used Bali scraps for my quilt on a dark background but it would work well with a pale background and either random scraps or a colour theme. One day.
Luscious Landscapes
I have had such fun experimenting with these little designs. These landscapes use a freezer paper method of construction followed by couching yarns, ribbons and cords. They are finished with machine and hand quilting, embroidery and beading. Best of all they can be completed within the day. One day.
Christmas Star Table Runner
Stitch a festive table runner in time for Christmas using machine piecing and a little appliqué. The length of the runner can be adjusted by adding or reducing the number of stars so as to fit any sized table. One day.
Cinnamon Rose
The centre piece of this quilt is a large vase of appliqued flowers. Swags of leaves, buds and blooms surround the centre along with pieced star blocks. The quilt is finished with a pieced patchwork sashing and plain borders . Two days.
How Does Your Garden Grow?
Stitch a naive garden landscape using blanket stitch applique on a felt background. Embellish with buttons, 3D flowers and big stitches. Half day or evening.
Scrappy Crosses Quilt
Stitch a quilt full of scrappy crosses. This is a great stash busting project and is a workshop suitable for beginners through to those with more experience. Machine piecing. One day.
Recycle, Reuse and Reduce
We often have clothing that we don’t wish to wear any longer or perhaps a favourite item that we just can’t part with because we love the fabric. In this class I will have several ideas for patchwork quilts so that you can recycle old clothing, reuse the fabric and reduce that fabric mountain that I know you have been secretly hoarding. One day.
Folk Art Felt Christmas Decorations
Stitch a selection of delightful Christmas decorations using a combination of blanket stitch applique and naive designs on felt. Embellish with Christmas fabrics, buttons and embroidery stitches. Half day or evening.
Tropical Blooms
Large appliquéd tropical blooms are bordered with patchwork strips. The blocks are then rotated to create secondary patterns. Machine piecing and appliqué. One day
Strips with a Twist
Take two colour ranges – one set of light fabrics and one set of dark fabrics. Add a bold contrast fabric. Stitch small, bold checkerboards of squares and surround these with varying size strips of fabrics. The result is a shaded quilt that looks as if it twists and turns. Machine piecing. One day.
Bali Circles
A quick and clever technique which produces two blocks from one construction method. These blocks are stitched using machine piecing and appliqué and are then alternated to create a stunning quilt. One day.
Foundation Piece a Village
Using foundation piecing techniques create a little village of houses. Hand sewing. Half day or evening.
Fabric Flower Brooches and Corsages
Stitch a variety of flower brooches and corsages using fabric, felt and embellishments. Hand sewing. Half day or evening.

A quilt stitched from scraps which showcases the light and dark variations in fabric. Careful placement of the blocks produces a heart design. Machine piecing. One day
Hearts and Stars in the Garden
Machine piece and applique a quilt containing flowers, hearts and stars. A variety of pieced blocks and small and large appliqued flowers and hearts are combined to create a stunning quilt. This is a two day class with a substantial amount of homework in between!
Christmas Table Mat
Stitch a set of Christmas inspired table mats which can be personalised to match your décor. The tablemats feature Christmas inspired fabrics and appliqued motifs. They are lined with wadding, quilted and finished with binding. One day
I’ve Got the Blues – Chunky Necklace
Stitch a delightful chunky necklace in shades of blue. The necklace is constructed using felt balls and spiraled rolls, sparkling beads, with a twisted zip. Finish the necklace with a ribbon tie. Instructions will also be given for stitching a simple felt brooch to match the necklace. Half day or evening.
Sweet and Simple Naive Christmas Decorations
Stitch simple festive decorative shapes such as hearts, holly leaves, stars and gingerbread men in felt and fabric. Decorate with buttons and stitches. Attach these festive shapes to a small white mirror frame and finish with a ribbon hanging. Half day or evening.
