Please find listed below details and photos of the workshops that I currently teach. Some workshops are available as half days or evenings while others are one day classes. A small number of workshops are 2 or 3 days in duration and these can be offered on consecutive days or with several weeks in between.

My Heart Belongs to You Quilt 
The blocks in this quilt are super sized with each block containing four hearts. This is a quilt which works well in multiple sizes from lap to king and is great for those fabrics that have large patterns on them. The negative space provided by the background fabric really allows the heart fabrics to stand out. Machine piecing. One day.

Quilt as You Go Hexagons
These folded and quilted hexagons are so good for stitching on the go and make a great portable project. The other advantage is that the hexagons can be made from fabric and wadding scraps.
Fabric and wadding hexagons are cut and then a prepared curved shape is folded over the hexagon and hand quilted through all layers. The quilted hexagons can then be stitched together to make a quilt. Lots of variations and tips and techniques will be given along the way. Hand stitching. Half day or evening.

Stained Glass Window Patchwork
Stained glass patchwork involves putting fabric pieces (glass) onto a background and stitching black strips (leading) over the raw edges. It is a very effective and eye catching technique. We will be working on a small piece of stained glass patchwork in the style of Piet Mondrian. Lots of tips and techniques will be covered along the way. Once the block has been completed you will have the option to stitch the block into a tote bag. Machine piecing. One day.

Improv Christmas Tree
This is a small Christmas tree which is stitched in an improvisational way. It uses the techniques of raw edge applique and is quilted and appliqued at the same time using the walking foot. It finishes at 16 x 22in so is perfect for a small wall hanging, cushion or table centre. Machine piecing. One day.

Springtime Garden Quilt
This quilt can be built up row by row and contains many elements found in a springtime garden including mosaic tiles, a variety of flowers and blooms, vines and leaves, dragonflies, butterflies and a some hearts for good measure.
Lots of techniques are covered in the workshops including machine piecing, machine applique and folded patchwork. Machine piecing and applique. Three – four days.

Floral Circles Quilt
Stitch a quilt of many circles and really master the technique of curved seams. Learn how to piece these blocks so that you achieve smooth seams with no puckers.
In these workshops we cover single and double pieced curves, curves with applique and curves incorporating foundation piecing. Machine piecing and applique. Two days.

Delectable Mountains Quilt

The delectable mountains block is a classic, traditional block which can be stitched and assembled in many ways. This quilt takes the classic block  but adds a modern colour palette by stitching it in solid fabrics and uses a quick piecing method. Machine piecing. One day.

Christmas Log Cabin
Stitch a Christmas themed log cabin quilt featuring a centre star and appliqued hearts. This project can be finished as a table centre, large cushion, table runner or extended to make a quilt. I have stitched my project in Christmas themed fabrics however it would work with any fabric combination. Machine piecing and applique. One day.

Shabby Chic Christmas Tree 
Stitch a Christmas tree using scraps of fabric, lace and ribbon. Embellish with some simple embroidery stitches and buttons. The finished tree could be used on a cushion, wall hanging or mounted on card.  Hand stitching. Two hours or evening.

Foundation Paper Pieced Hearts
Learn the technique of foundation paper piecing while stitching these gorgeous little hanging hearts. These ones are stitched in Liberty fabrics however, they could be colour themed or stitched in Christmas fabrics. Hand stitching. Two hours or evening.

Modern Sampler Quilt
This modern sampler quilt combines a number of pieced blocks which move across the quilt in diagonal lines. The quilt is finished with a twisted ribbon border. Machine piecing. Three days.

Medallion Quilt
This is a great project for learning a number of techniques including intricate and quick piecing methods, applique and curved piecing. The quilt grows from the centre outwards.  Machine stitching. Three days.

English Paper Piecing
English paper piecing (EPP) is a form of patchwork that uses paper templates that fit together. Fabric is wrapped around each template and then the shapes are hand stitched together to create a design. Students will work with hexagonal shapes to create either a stunning little brooch or a larger coaster. Two hours or evening.

Denim Upcycled
 In this workshop I will show you how to repurpose and upcycle pre-loved denim into stylish and useful items for you, your family and friends, or your home. I have taken four projects from my book Denim Upcycled to teach during the day and you will receive all four patterns for these items. We will begin the day by working on the Messenger Bag, followed by the Plant Pot Cover, then the Flower Brooch and finally the Phone Case. All projects require basic machine sewing skills and are simple to make. Machine stitching. One day.

Scrappy Selvedge Cushion
Don’t throw those selvedges cut from your fabrics in the bin! Use them to create a colourful scrappy selvedge cushion. Not only do you get to stitch a lovely cushion but you have a lasting memory of all those fabrics used in other projects. Machine stitching. One day.

Rebel Record Quilt
Perhaps you have a collection of fabrics that need to be used in a modern design. This workshop focuses on the technique of creating quarter circle blocks which can be assembled in all sorts of ways. Machine stitching. One day.

Improv Piecing
Improv piecing is stitched on the machine and involves stitching blocks without measuring in an improvisational way. In the first part of the class we will cover techniques on how to piece improv squares, triangles, strips and curves. We then move on to piecing a small quilt or cushion using the techniques learned. Machine stitching. One day.

Walk the Walk
Do you make patchwork quilt tops and then get stuck with the quilting? In this workshop we explore the use of the walking foot for quilting, practise various techniques and make a set of samples to take home. This is a technique class with some preparation of materials needed beforehand. Machine stitching. One day.

Floating Triangles Quilt
This project is from my book “Simply Modern Patchwork Quilts”. A great stash busting project where colourful triangles float across the quilt. Machine stitching. One day.

Sound Waves Quilt
Colourful sound waves move across this quilt. This is a really effective quilt which is jelly roll friendly and can be stitched in bright fabrics or in a more muted colour way. Machine stitching. One day.

Curved Piecing
Stitch an orange peel quilt in this one day workshop. During the class we work through the techniques and tricks for stitching effective curved seam blocks. Machine stitching. One day.

Triple Dresden Plate
The Dresden Plate blocks in this quilt are constructed from pieced wedges. Each wedge contains three fabrics. The middle fabric in each wedge creates a circular effect in the middle of the block. The Dresden plates are stitched using machine piecing and applique. Machine stitching. One day.

Interlocking Chains Quilt
This quilt is made from a single repeating block but what makes it really clever is the fabric placement which continues into the linked blocks. It is a pattern which needs careful piecing but once you have made your first couple of blocks you will be well on your way. Machine stitching.One day

Weekend Sewing Makes
Stitch a set of four items for the sewing room including a storage basket, a tiny tray, needle case and pin cushion. These projects are from Janet’s book “Twenty Five Weekend Makes Patchwork”. A fun day where students will take home a set of completed items. Machine stitching. One day.

Sock Kitty
This is a fun workshop where we recycle and repurpose a pair of socks to make this very cute little kitty. Hand or machine stitching. Mini workshop (2 hours) or evening.

Hugs and Kisses Quilt
This project is from my book “Simply Modern Patchwork Quilts”. There are so many different patterns in this quilt from intersecting floral lines to bright jade green crosses, yet it is made from just one repeating block. The combination of print and plain fabrics help to create the visual effect. Machine stitching. One day

Positively Pinwheels Quilt
Stitch a project where positive and negative pinwheel blocks alternate across this quilt. A great stash busting project. Machine stitching. One day.

Vintage Style Flower Pin Cushions
Stitch a 3D flower pin cushion in a vintage style. Gathered and folded flower petals are stitched together to create a delightful flower which is then stitched to a padded shape. The pin cushion is finished with a large co-ordinating button. This project would make a great gift or a lovely addition to a sewing box. Hand sewing. Half day or evening.

Inchie Mosaic
Stitch an inchie mosaic where 1″ squares are decorated and embellished with stitches, beads, buttons, fabric, collage and thread to create a colour themed mosaic collage. When the 1″ tiles are put together a small piece of art work results. Hand sewing. Half day or evening.

Floral Splendour
Machine piece a floral inspired quilt featuring blocks containing squares and triangles. One day.

Forest Stars Quilt
This quilt contains two different star blocks which alternate nicely with each other. Constructed by machine piecing. One day.

Fabric Storage Baskets
These little baskets are great for storing sewing goodies, cosmetics, stationery etc. They are stitched on the machine and are quick and easy to make. Half day or evening.

Floral Needle Cases
Stitch a floral inspired needle case showcasing a variety of flowers, blooms, buds and leaves. Embellish these with embroidery stitches before moving on to stitch the needle case with its felt inserts for needle storage. Hand sewing. Half day or evening.

Fabulous Textured Flowers
Stitch a small bloom using gathered fabric strips spiralled into dimensional petals. A lovely 3D flower is created with this technique. Add some applique and embellishments to finish your picture. Hand sewing. Half day or evening.

Winter Warmer Quilt and Hot Water Bottle Cover
Machine piece a quick quilt featuring big blocks and a matching hot water bottle cover. Great for a snuggly gift. One day.

Summertime Bucket Bag
Machine piece a fabulous roomy bag which features some eye catching patchwork and is finished with metal bag feet and leather handles. This bag is from Janet’s  book “Simply Modern Patchwork Bags”. One day.

Flower Market Quilt
This is a great stash busting project in a modern design where large pieced flowers sit in rows. I have made my quilt in a co-ordinating fabric range but alternatively this would be a great project for using up scraps. One day.

Quilt Modern
Machine piece a modern geometric quilt using half a jelly roll, twenty charm squares and some plain fabric. This quilt will grow quickly over the day. One day.

Simple Pleasures
A quilt for the lovers of machine applique!
Stitch a quilt full of simple, favourite motifs including shoes, flowers, ice-creams, a birdhouse, hearts, a handbag, cupcakes and many more. If you wish you can personalise blocks to include things that are special to you by substituting motifs. Finish the quilt with lots of pieced squares and rectangles. This is a two day class.

Bumpy Circles
In this workshop we will use half a jelly roll and some plain fabric, to stitch a quilt where interconnecting bumpy circles (well really they are octagons) join together to create a secondary pattern. The best news is that there are not any curved seams to stitch and very few seams to match. This quilt will grow quickly over the day. One day.

Cathedral Window Pin Cushions
Cathedral window is a folded patchwork technique which looks highly intricate. The name Cathedral Window is derived from the stained glass appearance of the finished pattern. Although the result looks complicated it is a simple technique and can be completed by hand. Half day or evening.

Owl Baby Pin Cushions
These cute little owl pin cushions are quick, easy and fun to stitch. Simple embroidery stitches and embellishments are added to their tummys and wings. They make good gifts and can be completed by hand. Half day or evening.

There Always Has to Be One! (pink elephant)
Machine piece and applique a fun quilt showcasing a parade of elephants with some flying geese thrown in for good measure. The flying geese are made using a quick technique where there is no fabric wasteage. One or two days.

Strips that Sizzle
Take fabric strips in a single colour way and combine them with some plain background fabric. Using a stitch and flip method combine a number of blocks to create a striking secondary pattern. Machine piecing. One day.

Tickled Pink
This little quilt combines Dresden plate blocks, appliqued flowers and simple squares to make a cute and very pink quilt. The Dresden plates are stitched using a quick piecing method and all blocks are machined pieced or appliqued. One day.

Up in the Tree
It all goes on up in the tree! Stitch a bright, colourful quilt where cute little owls, birds and butterflies perch in the branches of a tree. Machine applique and piecing. One day.

Ladders Quilt
I just loved these fabrics as soon as I saw them and knew that they needed to be showcased in a simple geometric design. As I stitched the quilt it reminded me of ladders. If only all ladders could be this colourful! A simple and very quick quilt which is great for using a jelly roll. Machine piecing. One day.

Basement Windows Quilt
This is a traditional block made modern by stitching the blocks together on point and through use of modern fabric choices. Machine piecing. One day.

Turquoise Kisses Quilt
This is a great stash busting project in a modern design where little crosses (kisses) are positioned on the diagonal. Machine piecing. One day.

Seasonal Sampler Quilt
This quilt combines traditional blocks in a fresh modern way. There are a variety of pieced and appliqued blocks taught over a number of days with homework to complete between classes. Machine piecing. Three days.

Half Square Triangle Quilt
There is so much that you can do with a half square triangle! In this class we make small half square triangles and then have fun creating many designs to make a small quilt. Machine piecing. One day.

Country Sampler Quilt
Create a country style sampler quilt using machine piecing and applique. Finish the sampler with hand quilting. Two or three days.

Folded Patchwork
Explore a number of techniques for folded patchwork. Learn how to make a variety of 3 dimensional flowers, embellishments and folded patchwork shapes. Hand sewing. Half day or evening.

Busy Fingers Felt Activity Book
Design and make a felt book for a child, incorporating applique, lift up flaps, matching shapes and hide away pockets. Hand and machine sewing. One day.

Hawaiian Applique
Explore the possibilities of Hawaiian applique and the techniques involved. Hand sewing. Half day or evening.
