My Heart Belongs to You Quilt
The blocks in this quilt are super sized with each block containing four hearts. This is a quilt which works well in multiple sizes from lap to king and is great for those fabrics that have large patterns on them. The negative space provided by the background fabric really allows the heart fabrics to stand out. Machine piecing. One day.
Quilt as You Go Hexagons
These folded and quilted hexagons are so good for stitching on the go and make a great portable project. The other advantage is that the hexagons can be made from fabric and wadding scraps.
Fabric and wadding hexagons are cut and then a prepared curved shape is folded over the hexagon and hand quilted through all layers. The quilted hexagons can then be stitched together to make a quilt. Lots of variations and tips and techniques will be given along the way. Hand stitching. Half day or evening.
Stained Glass Window Patchwork
Stained glass patchwork involves putting fabric pieces (glass) onto a background and stitching black strips (leading) over the raw edges. It is a very effective and eye catching technique. We will be working on a small piece of stained glass patchwork in the style of Piet Mondrian. Lots of tips and techniques will be covered along the way. Once the block has been completed you will have the option to stitch the block into a tote bag. Machine piecing. One day.
Improv Christmas Tree
This is a small Christmas tree which is stitched in an improvisational way. It uses the techniques of raw edge applique and is quilted and appliqued at the same time using the walking foot. It finishes at 16 x 22in so is perfect for a small wall hanging, cushion or table centre. Machine piecing. One day.
Springtime Garden Quilt
This quilt can be built up row by row and contains many elements found in a springtime garden including mosaic tiles, a variety of flowers and blooms, vines and leaves, dragonflies, butterflies and a some hearts for good measure.
Lots of techniques are covered in the workshops including machine piecing, machine applique and folded patchwork. Machine piecing and applique. Three – four days.
Floral Circles Quilt
Stitch a quilt of many circles and really master the technique of curved seams. Learn how to piece these blocks so that you achieve smooth seams with no puckers.
In these workshops we cover single and double pieced curves, curves with applique and curves incorporating foundation piecing. Machine piecing and applique. Two days.
Christmas Log Cabin
Stitch a Christmas themed log cabin quilt featuring a centre star and appliqued hearts. This project can be finished as a table centre, large cushion, table runner or extended to make a quilt. I have stitched my project in Christmas themed fabrics however it would work with any fabric combination. Machine piecing and applique. One day.
English Paper Piecing
English paper piecing (EPP) is a form of patchwork that uses paper templates that fit together. Fabric is wrapped around each template and then the shapes are hand stitched together to create a design. Students will work with hexagonal shapes to create either a stunning little brooch or a larger coaster. Two hours or evening.
Denim Upcycled
In this workshop I will show you how to repurpose and upcycle pre-loved denim into stylish and useful items for you, your family and friends, or your home. I have taken four projects from my book Denim Upcycled to teach during the day and you will receive all four patterns for these items. We will begin the day by working on the Messenger Bag, followed by the Plant Pot Cover, then the Flower Brooch and finally the Phone Case. All projects require basic machine sewing skills and are simple to make. Machine stitching. One day.
Improv Piecing
Improv piecing is stitched on the machine and involves stitching blocks without measuring in an improvisational way. In the first part of the class we will cover techniques on how to piece improv squares, triangles, strips and curves. We then move on to piecing a small quilt or cushion using the techniques learned. Machine stitching. One day.
Walk the Walk
Do you make patchwork quilt tops and then get stuck with the quilting? In this workshop we explore the use of the walking foot for quilting, practise various techniques and make a set of samples to take home. This is a technique class with some preparation of materials needed beforehand. Machine stitching. One day.
Triple Dresden Plate
The Dresden Plate blocks in this quilt are constructed from pieced wedges. Each wedge contains three fabrics. The middle fabric in each wedge creates a circular effect in the middle of the block. The Dresden plates are stitched using machine piecing and applique. Machine stitching. One day.
Interlocking Chains Quilt
This quilt is made from a single repeating block but what makes it really clever is the fabric placement which continues into the linked blocks. It is a pattern which needs careful piecing but once you have made your first couple of blocks you will be well on your way. Machine stitching. One day
Weekend Sewing Makes
Stitch a set of four items for the sewing room including a storage basket, a tiny tray, needle case and pin cushion. These projects are from Janet’s book “Twenty Five Weekend Makes Patchwork”. A fun day where students will take home a set of completed items. Machine stitching. One day.
Hugs and Kisses Quilt
This project is from my book “Simply Modern Patchwork Quilts”. There are so many different patterns in this quilt from intersecting floral lines to bright jade green crosses, yet it is made from just one repeating block. The combination of print and plain fabrics help to create the visual effect. Machine stitching. One day

Positively Pinwheels Quilt
Stitch a project where positive and negative pinwheel blocks alternate across this quilt. A great stash busting project. Machine stitching. One day.
Vintage Style Flower Pin Cushions
Stitch a 3D flower pin cushion in a vintage style. Gathered and folded flower petals are stitched together to create a delightful flower which is then stitched to a padded shape. The pin cushion is finished with a large co-ordinating button. This project would make a great gift or a lovely addition to a sewing box. Hand sewing. Half day or evening.
Simple Pleasures
A quilt for the lovers of machine applique!
Stitch a quilt full of simple, favourite motifs including shoes, flowers, ice-creams, a birdhouse, hearts, a handbag, cupcakes and many more. If you wish you can personalise blocks to include things that are special to you by substituting motifs. Finish the quilt with lots of pieced squares and rectangles. This is a two day class.
Bumpy Circles
In this workshop we will use half a jelly roll and some plain fabric, to stitch a quilt where interconnecting bumpy circles (well really they are octagons) join together to create a secondary pattern. The best news is that there are not any curved seams to stitch and very few seams to match. This quilt will grow quickly over the day. One day.
Cathedral Window Pin Cushions
Cathedral window is a folded patchwork technique which looks highly intricate. The name Cathedral Window is derived from the stained glass appearance of the finished pattern. Although the result looks complicated it is a simple technique and can be completed by hand. Half day or evening.
Ladders Quilt
I just loved these fabrics as soon as I saw them and knew that they needed to be showcased in a simple geometric design. As I stitched the quilt it reminded me of ladders. If only all ladders could be this colourful! A simple and very quick quilt which is great for using a jelly roll. Machine piecing. One day.
