My 2022 Temperature Quilt is finished. What a year to make a quilt recording the temperatures! Here in the UK we had cold, snowy months and then in the middle of the summer we had a heat wave with temperatures of over 40 degrees. I actually hadn’t planned for the temperatures to get above 36 degrees so had to add another two fabrics to the temperature range.
The coloured fabrics in the quilt represent the high temperature each day (moving from blue through to yellow, orange and red) and the grey fabrics (pale to dark grey) recorded the low temperature each day. Each month of the year works its way across the quilt in a wave type pattern hence there are twelve rows. I have put a key down the side of the quilt showing the high and low temperature ranges.
The quilt was beautifully quilted by Cut and Alter who quilted it with an undulating wave pattern. I added a scrappy binding to finish.
